Our class is studying strategies to support the educational NEEDS of young gifted learners. We are examining ways to differentiate curriculum, pacing, and processing. This morning we are looking at the work of Bertie Kingore, Ph.D. to support our thinking as we design programming options for our Kindergarten through 2nd grade high potential learners.
Some ideas that we gained from this segment of learning are:
James Borland’s book, Planning and Implementing Programs for the Gifted, 1989 Teacher College Press, might be outdated by publishing date, however the content in much of this book is far from outdated. Our class is examining his writing on “A System Approach to Planning for the Gifted” and his information about “Programs VS Provisions” and comparing it to more current thinking.
